Choosing the right wood species...

Every LaFata cabinet begins with premium furniture-grade wood and choosing the right wood species is an important step in creating a kitchen, bathroom or living space that's perfectly tailored to you and your lifestyle.

Every species has its own characteristics and unique qualities and variations in grain, texture and color are natural acceptable conditions of a quality wood finish. This means that the actual finish and color of your cabinets will be slightly different from those found on this website... which is also part of what helps make each cabinet in your new LaFata kitchen uniquely yours.

Cherry & Rustic Cherry
A hard and sturdy wood with a reddish-brown tone, cherry features a grain which is more subdued than some other hardwood species, with very interesting character. It resists warping and checking and darkens considerably with age and exposure to sunlight.

Hickory
Native to North America, hickory is the hardest, heaviest, and strongest American wood in common use today. Extremely tough and resilient, Hickory's long, flowing grain pattern welcomes a full range of medium-to-dark finishes and bleaching treatments.

Maple & Rustic Maple
An extremely hard, fine-textured wood with excellent resistance to abrasion and indentation, maple has been a favorite of American furniture makers since early Colonial days. Usually straight-grained, it is recognized for its heavy weight and great strength.

Oak
Strong and hardwearing, natural oak has a range of natural colors – from nearly white cream color to a beautiful warm, pale brown heartwood, tinted with red. Oak is prized for its pronounced texture and grain and can be stained beautifully with a wide range of finish tones.
