3 Reasons to Host a Big Family Feast!

RSS

Is there really a reason not to? Hosting a big family feast, especially around the holidays, is a chance to reconnect with family, spruce up the house, and even show it off a little.

1. It's a great reason to give your home a deep clean.

When you have family over, you want your home to look its best! That means dusting, vacuuming, scrubbing, washing, drying and then dusting again. This gives you a chance to give your home a deep clean. Should you only clean your home if you're hosting something? Of course not, but doing a big cleaning day keeps your house from needing so many smaller cleans.

It might also be a blessing in disguise. We all end up cleaning things we would usually never bother to clean: vacuuming between couch cushions, emptying out the fridge to wipe it all down, and even cleaning the basement that no one ever goes down into (unless you've got an awesome home bar). There is no task too small or too inconsequential for your family. While the chances are high that your family will never notice those small details, you definitely will. Untouched corners, forgotten frozen messes, and under-couch dust bunnies can all be revealed and cleaned up. It will make you appreciate doing these tasks and even prouder of your home.

2. You get to see family!

This is typically the biggest reason to host a family feast. It's so much fun to see family, especially around the holidays or for a special dinner. Will it be completely stress-free? Probably not, but at the end of the day it's always worth it. Don't let unsure family members delay you into having unsure plans about "maybe getting together next month". Take the reins and let everyone know you're hosting a dinner and that they're expected.

Whatever you decide on for your feast day, don't get bogged down or worried about people being bored. Sometimes being around family is all it takes to have fun whether you're just chatting, watching tv, playing cards, or something else. If you have a small family or are expecting a low turnout extend the invite to friends too! There's always plenty of fun to go around.

3. Show off your home!

You've cleaned the house and the family has arrived. What's left? Enjoy the feast and show off your home to friends and family! Let them in and give them a tour around the house. Show them what's new, what's been done, and maybe even what's coming up! Have you had your home recently renovated? Show it off and maybe give your guests a new idea for their own home!

Even if you don't show off your newly renovated home, at least you'll get the chance to really use it! Making a big meal in your newly renovated kitchen can be a dream. You'll remember all the reasons why you upgraded your last kitchen in the first place, and you'll be even happier with your new one. It's times like these that make us really appreciate what we have.
