Our 4 Favorite Kitchen Trends For 2019
2018 was a great year for kitchen design. We saw new styles, new colors, and new kitchen features become the go-to in kitchen trends. But that was last year, and with every year new designs become the hottest option on the market. We've put together a list of our favorite kitchen trends for 2019. Check them out!
1. Open Floor Plans
One of our favorite trends is the number of new approaches to kitchen floor plan! Open layouts are becoming one of the most popular. Many homes are doing away with a kitchen that's cut-off from the rest of the home. Kitchens utilizing an open floor plan take this to an extreme by having nearly an entire floor with as few barriers between as possible. It gives your home a spacious, open feeling and really makes you appreciate how big your home actually is.
For homes that can't pull off a completely open floor plan, glass dividers are becoming a close second to open floor plans. Setting up a glass divider between the kitchen, dining room and living room gives you the same sense of connection, light and space as an open floor plan but with a little more privacy between rooms.
2. Backsplashes & Islands
New features are making themselves known in 2019 kitchens! The feature that's become the most popular are tile backsplashes, and it's not hard to imagine why! Tile backsplashes can add texture and color to any kitchen. They can be a small accent to your kitchen or the main focal point! The variety and flexibility is just one of the things that's making them so popular in 2019!
Islands continue to be a must-have feature, but now more than ever. Kitchen islands have also become the calling card of a modern and social kitchen. Extra storage space, counter space for your food prep, and creating a friendly, open environment are all great reasons for a kitchen island.
3. Color Duos
Kitchens with one color designs have been left behind, and in their place are beautiful color duos of blues, greens, blacks, and more. In 2019, a lot of kitchens are taking on a dual-color palette either for contrast or compliment. White accents or other neutral colors are being mixed with more popping colors to help balance a smooth kitchen design.
Matte colors are becoming popular. Matte blacks, blues and greens can become a soft splash of color that won't overwhelm visitors or yourself.
4. More Kitchen Storage
Cabinets are being heavily emphasized in kitchen designs in 2019. Some homes are designating entire rooms for pantries, appliance storage, and food prep areas. Walk-in pantries, butler's pantries and floor-to-ceiling cabinets are the new go-to in kitchen storage.
