Beginning your kitchen remodel and not sure what to do about lighting? There are many lighting trends we tend to see that can make your decisions a little easier. The main types of lighting we see used in combination are recess lights, under cabinet lights, pendent lights, & chandeliers.
Recess Lights
It terms of the main lighting in the kitchen, the type of light that gives off the brightest light are recess lights. Recess lights are installed directly inside of the ceiling. They provide more coverage to the area, as they normally put multiple all across the kitchen ceiling. It lights up the room more uniformly instead of just in one area. They give off bright light, while also being very discrete as they are integrated in the ceiling. Recess lights are a must to consider during your kitchen remodel.
Under Cabinet Lighting
Under cabinet lighting is an important type of lighting that really adds a lot to the kitchen. Under-cabinet lighting is typically added under a cabinet, shelf, or similar surface in order to produce localized lighting on a work surface. It is a cost effective, easy way to add visual depth to your kitchen. We mostly see them above kitchen countertops, providing a soft, ambient lighting effect. Not only does under cabinet lighting create a beautiful ambience, it also is a very convenient type of lighting when working in your kitchen. It is great for cooking, food preparation, and any other tasks where a more direct light would be helpful. LaFata is able to install under cabinet lighting for customers during their kitchen remodel.
Pendent Lights
Another type of light that tends to be used to not only give off light, but for style are pendent lights. A pendent light, also known as a drop light is a light fixture that is suspended from the ceiling with a cord, chain, or metal rod, attached to a single bulb. We normally are seeing pendent lights being hung above the kitchen island. The trend is having two or three pendent lights hanging above the island to make this are the focal point of the kitchen. It provides direct light on the island, while also providing an elegant, chic style.
Chandelier
A chandelier is almost always seen in every kitchen. The chandelier is the light fixture that is normally hung above a kitchen table where one gathers to eat. The recess lights normally do not reach this area of the kitchen, so the chandelier is necessary to provide lighting. Chandeliers come in many different sizes and styles that you can choose from depending on the style of your kitchen. They bring your kitchen together by adding a rich, beautiful look.
